I have just started - as of June 2007 - to contribute seriously to Wikipedia, mainly to articles dealing with Indonesian performing arts. My background is in music - after completing a music degree in my native United Kingdom, I studied gamelan and puppetry for two years in Yogyakarta on a dharmasiswa scholarship from the Indonesian government, and later received a PhD in ethnomusicology for a thesis on the musical accompaniment of wayang kulit (shadow theatre). I still teach and perform gamelan and wayang in the UK.
